Alma: the feature
Set 500 years into the future, in the year 2523, Earth is a wasteland destroyed by humans. Doctor Alma, a fluffy, brilliant, Vespa-driving Vulkeet (a parakeet and vulture hybrid), must cure the only creatures left who can save the world by bringing back the rain - the very ill, bizarre, and lovable Homeys. Urged by her bird pal Hitch, Alma rushes to Las Nogas. There, she meets Gormal, a groundhog climatologist, Queen Bee, and her swarm of bees, Clothespin Freaks, and the Homeys – kind humanoids stitched together from the stock of human tissue. Using her medical skills, she nurses the Homeys back to health and helps bring nourishing rains to Earth.
When Alma moves in with Hitch and her supplies arrive, Gus - an enormous purple Dragonfly once trapped in amber - jumps out of one of the boxes. This encounter triggers memories from her childhood in the Antarctic with her penguin foster parents.
As Alma's tender relationship with Hitch grows, Gus triggers complex feelings about home and belonging. Gus, unable to adapt to Las Nogas, needs help returning to the Antarctic, and Alma must decide to stay in Las Nogas or make the difficult journey to visit her beloved penguin family.
ALMA, an imaginative, stop-motion animated feature film that blends humor and heart, celebrates animal ingenuity and species survivalism. The post-apocalyptic utopian film serves as a cautionary tale about Climate Change. It emphasizes the contribution women make towards improving society and champions empathy and collaboration as crucial elements for achieving global unity.

The first act of Alma’s story begins with the last short, Las Nogas, in the eco-thrilling shorts trilogy–an animated metaphor that upholds environmental awareness. The entire series of films champion empathy and collaboration being crucial elements for achieving global unity and emphasize the contributions that women make towards improving society.
THE TRILOGY (3 SHORTS)
It’s the future and humanity is but a memory, existing only in scattered pieces. That is, until a pillow's needlepoint rendering of three individuals, collectively known as the Clothespin Freaks, finds the spark of life and surfaces to fulfill their destinies. Once aware of their purpose, the group begins assembling the remains of humanity…
LF (short for Lost & Found), a cheerful female animated sign takes the unfinished Homeys to an underground “Lost & Found” laboratory where a team of quirky, ingenious characters provides the Homeys with missing body parts and prepares them for their mission to restore balance to the desert Earth.
Alma is called upon by her bird friend and master engineer, Hitch, to come to Las Nogas and help fix his malfunctioning rain machine. She sets off on her Vespa right away! At Las Nogas, Alma meets Gormal, a groundhog climatologist, a swarm of bees, quirky Clothespin Freaks, two-headed geniuses, and the machine’s most critical workers, the altruistic Homeys who are too sick to do their job. Using her expert medical skills, she nurses them back to health and helps bring back the nourishing rains. Everyone rejoices - Earth – for centuries a dry wasteland – is now a sprouting heaven. But Alma’s role in getting Earth back on track is just beginning!
Updates
ALMA is a major, multi-year production effort. From March 2026 until approximately September 2029, I will be in production. In the Fall of 2029, ALMA will enter the post-production phase with an estimated release inAugust 2030.
